When is appointing a coordinator mandatory?
The law requires the mandatory appointment of a coordinator during the construction phase in any of these cases:

More than one company
More than one contractor or subcontractor is involved on site.

A company and freelancers
A company works alongside one or more self-employed workers.

Several freelancers
Several self-employed workers operate on the same site.
Note: the duty can arise mid-project
If a project starts with a single company but later subcontracts a freelancer or another contractor, the developer is required to appoint the coordinator at that very moment. Don't wait until the end: non-compliance exposes you to administrative, civil and criminal liability.
